Siler City
In April, 2004 the
Siler City Airport completed a
resurfacing project. The entire
runway was re-sealed and the ramp area was coated with a fuel resistant
sealant. The runway markings were
re-painted and brought into compliance with current FAA standards.
A future project at the
Siler City Airport will be to remove trees on the approach ends of the runways
that could possibly encroach on the instrument approach airspace.
Asheboro
During
the summer of 2004, a major project will be underway at the Asheboro
Airport. The runway will be
widened from it’s existing 75
feet to 100 feet. An additional layer of asphalt will be added to the runway
and taxiways to improve the weight bearing capabilities. Come
by and check it out. The Airport is now fully open and functional. Final
stripping will occur in about a month but the full length is now open for use.
