Flight Training

At the Asheboro Airport, Cardinal Air maintains two Alarus aircraft dedicated to flight training and rental use. The Alarus is a modern FAR 23 Certified trainer.
We welcome aspiring pilots to come join our customer base. Whether you have zero hours or 50, we can help you obtain your private pilots certificate.
We have two flight instructors, Bill Schwabenton, CFII and Andrew Tate, who happily provide biennial flight reviews, instrument instruction, instrument competency checks and more.
Asheboro Rates:
- Instructor - Bill Schwabenton, CFII
- Our aircraft are maintained on the field by Flying Leaf Aviation based at Asheboro Airport, so availability is maximized.
- Alarus IFR Rental: $98/hour wet (includes fuel/oil)
- AMD Alarus VFR rental $94/hour wet (includes fuel/oil)
- Flight instruction: $31/hour primary instruction
- Instrument instruction: $41/hour
Siler City Rates:
- Instructor - Andrew Tate, CFII
- Our aircraft are maintained on the field by Guardian Aviation Services based at Siler City Airport, so availability is maximized.
- Piper Aztec Rental: $200/hour wet (includes fuel/oil)
- Cessna 152 Rental $80/hour wet (includes fuel/oil)
- Flight instruction: $25/hour primary instruction
- 1 Hour Discovery Flight: $75 includes training
- Flight Reviews: $75
- Ferry Flights/Repositioning: $250/day plus expenses
